HPV vaccination program
15 October 2023 HPV vaccination campaign to reduce cervical cancer deaths to zero. Earlier on October 2, 2023, the ‘HPV Vaccination Campaign-2023’ was experimentally started with the theme ‘Take one dose of HPV vaccine, prevent cervical cancer’. The vaccine program is conducted by the Department of Health in collaboration with UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO) and The Vaccine Alliance (GAVI) under the Expanded Immunization Program of the Government of Bangladesh. Initially vaccination was provided only in different schools of Dhaka division. This vaccination will be given in April 2024 in Barisal and Chittagong divisions and in August in the remaining five divisions of the country. 2023

What is HPV?
The full form of HPV is Human papillomavirus HPV is a virus that can cause cervical cancer (a tumor of the cervix or lower part of the uterus) and genital warts. It can also be vaginal cancer. According to WHO recommendations, cervical cancer can be prevented through regular screening and HPV vaccination.
